How to make Authentic Sambar South Indian Style with Readymade Tadka Masala at Home- 10min Preps

Sambar South Indian style is a beloved dish known for its rich flavors and aromatic spices. While making traditional sambar can be a labor-intensive process, there’s a shortcut that doesn’t compromise on authenticity but so easy to make using BazaaRooh readymade tadka masala. In this unique recipe, we’ll show you how to prepare a delicious South Indian sambar at home with the convenience without hassle.

How to make Authentic Sambar at Home-

You need Ingredients:

  • 1 cup toor dal (split pigeon peas)
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Vegetables of your choice (e.g., drumsticks, beans, peas, etc.)
  • 1 medium-sized tomato, chopped
  • 1 medium-sized onion, chopped
  • Very little oil for cooking (1-2 teaspoons)
  • 1/4 tablespoon of Bazaar Rooh Readymade Sambar Tadka (for one bowl, adjust accordingly)
  • Tamarind paste or tamarind pulp (optional, for extra tanginess)
  • Chopped coriander leaves for garnish (optional)

Recipe to make Sambar:

  1. Cook Dal:
    • Soak Daal after washing for at least 30min.
    • Add 3 cups of water, turmeric powder, and a pinch of salt and Boil it giving 2-3 whistles.
    • You can also add the vegetables of your choice at this stage like Beans, Drumpsticks, Peas, etc. which take time to cook
  2. Further Prepare:
    • In a separate pan or kadhai, heat a very small amount of oil.
    • Add the chopped onions and cook till golden brown and add chopped tomato till they soften with pinch of Salt.
  3. Add Bazaar Rooh Readymade Sambar Tadka:
    • Once the onions are soft, add the chopped tomatoes to the kadhai.
    • Now, add the Bazaar Rooh Readymade Sambar Tadka to tomato.
    • Mix it well and let it cook for a minute or two.
  4. Combine Dal and Tadka:
    • Pour the cooked dal (with or without vegetables) into the kadhai.
    • Stir everything together and allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, check salt if needed more.
  5. It’s Ready almost:
    • If the sambar is too thick, add some water to achieve consistency.
    • If you want more tanginess, you can add tamarind paste or tamarind pulp at this stage and boil a lil more time.
  6. Garnish and Serve:
    • Let the sambar simmer for a few more minutes until everything is well-incorporated.
    • Garnish the sambar with chopped coriander leaves.
  7. Serve Hot:
    • Your authentic South Indian sambar is ready! Serve it hot with idli, dosa, or rice and enjoy the delicious flavors.
